Known as the brand of « the Kings and the Stars » (it is Andy Warhol's favorite) in the 1980's and 1990's Hublot became obsolete until the arrival of JC Biver and the launching of the Big Bang in 2005.
The success was such that the brand virtually became a mono-product chain launching variations of its icon in different ways.
Full-fledged model, the Big Bang Classic Fusion clearly takes up the familial DNA, but in order to better move from it : it is more sober (there is no chronometer) and delicate.
It may be the ideal Big Bang for those who do not like Big Bang !
The fusion of the materials
The Classic Fusion, as it is shown by its name, is true to the Hublot's basis concept : the “fusion” of the materials.
The case is in ceramic with a black resin inset ; the bezel's screws are made of polished titanium ; the oscillating weight of Tungsten and the strap of rubber.
Nevertheless, a crucial question remains : what is the point except “the nice looking” on the technical documentations ?
The titanium screws or the resin inset are rather anecdotal (how can you tell the difference between a steel polished screw and a titanium polished screw ?...).
But the ceramic case has an undeniable advantage : it is scratchproof and will remain eternally “new”, contrary to surface treatments such as PVD that will end scratched.
Wearing the Classic Fusion is extremely comfortable. The ceramic (lighter than steel and thermally neutral) allied to the rubber strap almost gives the sensation not to wear a watch.
The absence of lugs allows an adaptation to all the wrists despite a substantial diameter.
The folding buckle enables an easy adjustment of the strap's length and contributes to the general look.

A 100% black watch... but with a good legibility
Another specialty of Hublot : the All Black concept, which comes in a variety on several home models and “inspired” competitors : black watch, black dial, black hands.
Most surprisingly, this “All Black” is not at all unreadable.
The hands, beveled and rhodium plated reflect every single ray of light. The reading of the time is made possible through the contrast between the matt dial and the reflection of the hands.
While the other watches hurl time at the face of the world with their huge, shiny and colorful hands, an All Black whispers it to the one wearing it...
Conclusion
Not belonging to a specific category (neither formal nor sportswear), this Big Bang is really multipurpose. It suits to every circumstance, either with a “Black tie” suit or with jeans/sneakers.
In the end, Hublot succeeded to take up a double challenge : making something new with its flagship model and to prove that a totally black watch is not always dull.
It remains, like always with Hublot, a “colorful” fee. This watch, with a low technique content (basic industrial movement), but with a high emotional content, is thus reserved for the “coup de Coeur” category...
The + :
- scratchproof ceramic case
- originality of the All Black's concept
The – :
- basic movement
- unscrewed crown
- high price for a 3-hand watch
